メロディよりもアグレッシブなリフとブレイクダウンを多用し実直で力強いボーカルが特徴。長年のキャリアを通じてそのサウンドは一切ブレることなく一貫している。
本国アメリカではハードコアシーンの重鎮として後続バンドに多大な影響を与え、揺るぎない地位を確立。
日本でも「キング・オブ・ハードコア」と称され、その熱狂的なライブパフォーマンスと共に絶大な支持を得ている。衰え知らずのエネルギーとメッセージが詰まった音楽性で高く評価されている。
